The forest does not crowd her; it simply continues around her, unbothered. She stands at the base of the trunk as if at a threshold. Every shadow on the ground is another way the light is thinking. Alone here, she realises how little she needs to feel accompanied..

Water folds around her legs, repeating the shape of her breath. Later, she leans against a fallen tree that once held the sky. The world is both ruin and refuge, and she fits inside each version. To be alone in nature is to discover you were never separate from it.
